- DOWN
TO THE SEA IN A KAYAK
...."There is nothing more beautiful and peaceful
than the arrival of dawn several miles from the shores
of Maui while sitting in my kayak. The rising sun
silhouettes Haleakala and the West Maui Mountains
and illuminates the faces of Kaho'olawe, Lana'i and
Moloka'i as they appear upon a pristine sea....

- VIEWING
NATURE IN NATURE'S
WAY IN SOUTH AFRICA
....From the rocky points of Walker Bay I, along with
dozens of families, became mesmerized and said not a word
as Southern Right Whale mothers and calves touch and caress
each other for hours. Nature had taken its hold upon us by
sharing a very special moment in time with one of the largest
species on earth....

- SOMETHING
TO THINK ABOUT
...."If you were to walk on the windward side of the island of
Lanai, (the side facing West Maui resort areas) you would be shocked
to see all the garbage. Of the numerous ocean voyages that I have
made from Hawaii to the U.S. mainland - thousands of miles from land
- currents that extend for miles contain so much plastic that one
cannot see the sea".....

Staff Writer; The Maui News, Jan. 30,2000
Richard Roshon isn't a scientist with a college degree. He doesn't
have a foundation, a research-team, a public relations specialist
or even an agent. But he does have a lifetime of practical experience,
an abiding love for the ocean, and a fear that the heavy foot of mankind
is leaving too deep a print on the environment......
