Chapters include experiences with sharks and whales from his ocean kayak. "Hawaii" - A fragile Ecosystem, coral reefs, Richards sailing voyage of 1989 from the Philippines towards Japan and beyond, noise pollution in the world's oceans, and much more.

Sea Secrets - April 1, 1946 an earthquake measured at 7.4 was created in the Aleutian Islands at 2 AM. Four hours and 20 minutes later it reached the Hawaiian Islands. The wave moved at 489 miles per hour and had a wavelength of 122 miles long.

Journey Across the Sea - All journeys to new and distant countries should be taken by sea. A swift flight in an airplane cannot give the traveler that refreshing mental experience which comes from weeks on the water. After a protracted sea voyage the mind is relaxed and the senses receptive to new impressions. A journey on the tropical seas particularly, creates a harmony between man and the physical world. A harmony which promotes a sense of liberation and renewal.

Shark - Aumakua - Guardian - With only a few feet between the Great White shark, and myself I held my camera under the surface and took a few photographs. When the shark's move became more erratic. I decided it was "Time to leave". I paddled out of the area, and was never followed.

Whales - Hours passed as this female Humpback Whale swam under and around my kayak. When a group of male whales approached she became active. The water so crystal clear, and I, so involved in the moment I have long waited for; (She Rises" Captain Ahab.) I tilt my camera as if to assist her in this mighty breach. Forty tons of heart, soul, and blubber reach for the sky. She exhales and inhales large quantities of air.

Ka Boom - the sea opens up - a hollow vacuum sound is heard. Just as suddenly - all is quiet.
